Srinagar, Apr 25 (KNO): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police on Friday said to have arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from his possession. Besides, seized psychotropic substances in Sopore.
A Police party of Police Station Pattan headed by SHO PS Pattan at a checkpoint established at Chinar Crossing, NHW Pattan, intercepted a person identified as Naseer Ahmad Mir @Kantay son of Mohd Rafiq Mir resident of Par Mohalla Pattan. During the search, 50 grams of Charas-like substances was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
Accordingly, police said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pattan and investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile in Sopore, during the investigation of case FIR No. 20/2025 under the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Panzla, Sopore Police recovered a consignment of psychotropic substances based on disclosures made by an accused currently in custody, police said.
A total of 256 capsules of Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus along with cash Rs 2,000 were recovered from Alsafa Colony, Sopore during a search operation conducted under a valid warrant, in the presence of an Executive Magistrate (Class I), police added.
“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said—(KNO)
